Biography

Riley BurnettJames Lee, Jr. is a trial lawyer who currently represents hundreds of plaintiffs in first party, bad faith insurance cases. James represents hospitals, surgery centers, shopping centers, restaurants, banks, and a myriad of other commercial businesses. He also represents residential policy holders. James’ practice has included common law and statutory contractual and extra-contractual bad faith litigation, with an emphasis on hurricane, structural and mold litigation.

James previously practiced insurance law for many years as a defense lawyer with McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP in Austin and Houston, Texas. James has also represented plaintiffs in other areas of law, including commercial litigation, consumer litigation, catastrophic personal injury, plant explosions, wrongful death, pharmaceutical drug litigation, toxic torts, and products liability. He has also had experience representing and defending Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial litigation and business disputes. James is licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of Texas and all of the Federal Courts in Texas which includes the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern, Western, and Northern Districts of Texas.

Prior to law school, James was a licensed commercial real estate agent who specialized in marketing and selling commercial properties including apartment complexes, condominium projects, and commercial retail space. James also started a title company in Austin and San Antonio, Texas. He has been involved in new construction, renovation, and marketing of real properties for many years.

James is from El Paso, Texas and he has been a resident of Houston and its surrounding areas for many years. James earned his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center.
