Biography

Riley Burnett Scott Love concentrates his practice in the areas of products liability, personal injury, wrongful death, mass tort litigation and class action litigation. Over the last several years, Scott has obtained over 500 million dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients in the areas of products liability, and consumer litigation. In addition to handling individual catastrophic injury cases, Scott has been involved in numerous consumer class actions and mass tort cases, including, insurance cases, oil & gas cases and various pharmaceutical cases such as Trasylol, Paxil, Accutane, Topamax, Zoloft, and transvaginal mesh.

Scott is one of the leading attorneys in the national Trasylol litigation which was transferred to the Southern District of Florida. Scott was honored with the appointment of co-lead counsel of the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee by the Honorable Donald Middlebrooks in May 2008. As co-lead counsel of the PSC, Scott was responsible for coordinating the overall litigation strategy which has successfully resulted in the settlement of the great majority of cases pending across the country.

Recently, Scott, along with two colleagues, obtained a multimillion dollar verdict for injuries sustained by their minor client in the Paxil Birth Defect Litigation. This was the first Paxil birth defect case tried in the country. Over 80% of the Paxil litigation was successfully resolved within 8 months of this verdict. Paxil is an antidepressant manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. Paxil has been associated with birth defects in children whose mother's take Paxil during pregnancy.

In addition to his active trial practice, Scott speaks on topics involving litigation and trial strategies and trends, including topics such as (1) Products Liability, (2) Expert Discovery, (3) Pharmaceutical Litigation, (4) Catastrophic Birth Injury Cases, and (5) Cross-Examination of Expert Witnesses.

Since 2006, Scott has been recognized every year by his peers as a super lawyer. This honor is given to less than 5% of all attorneys in the State of Texas. He has also had the distinction of being named one of Houston’s Top Lawyers (2007-2011) and one of Houston's Lawyers on the Fast Track (2006-2011) by H Texas Magazine.
