Medications from compounding pharmacy recalled

On Behalf of | Mar 15, 2018 | Uncategorized |

Many Houston residents need to take prescription medication for one reason or another. These medications are necessary to fight illnesses and to maintain a person’s health. Most of the time medications are safe but occasionally a dangerous drug enters the market, prompting a drug recall. Recently a compounding pharmacy that sent medications across the U.S. was shut down because the products they made may be unsafe.

A compounding pharmacy was shut down by its state board of pharmacy. The board said that the facility was not properly testing the products to ensure they were safe, sterile and the right potency. Prescription Center Pharmacy’s products were distributed throughout the U.S. and Canada. As a result, the U.S. FDA has issued a nationwide alert, including Texas. Consumers who have medication from this pharmacy are being told to destroy them.

When a drug manufacturer is not as careful as they should there are serious injuries that can occur. It can take time before the FDA or other government agency issues a recall for the drug, potentially leaving the possibility that many people will suffer from unexpected side effects. If a person believes their medication has caused an injury they may want to speak with a legal professional skilled in drugs and medical devices. An attorney can review the medication, the person’s medical records, and other evidence to determine what went wrong. They can hold the drug manufacturer responsible for their negligence. Compensation may be available for medical expenses, pain and suffering and other damages.

Manufacturers who produce medications that cause unexpected harm to patients should be held responsible for their negligence. Patients have legal rights to protect them against dangerous drugs.
